Spectrum-Efficient Solutions

CX2 data radios offer clear, spectrum-efficient, cost-effective operation. They are ideal for tracking fleets and equipment, gathering remote weather and traffic data, and brokering data from biological, chemical, and radiation sensors.

Narrowband Spectrum
CX2 data radios operate in the 220-222 MHz spectrum, a narrowband frequency ideal for public safety. Coverage from a single radio tower can reliably extend over 1,200 square miles, even with difficult terrain. The range of cellular and other high-frequency band towers is typically only 200–300 square miles.

Unlike high-frequency 700–900 MHz bands, the 5 kHz narrowband channels in the 220-222 MHz range experience little or no interference. The bandwidth propagates extremely well over rugged terrain and in major metropolitan areas, where other frequencies see drop-off or cross-talk.

Over-The-Air-Protocol (OTAP)
The CX2 patented TDMA Enhanced Slotted-Aloha protocol incorporates a batch mode for point-to-multipoint communication, making CX2 radios ideally suited for SCADA and remote telemetry applications.

Spectrum Availability
The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) holds two nationwide 220 MHz licenses for public safety and the federal government. Qualified organizations can apply for licenses in their area for little or no cost.

CX2 solutions allow organizations to make the best use of narrowband frequencies, improving efficiency and offering programmable flexibility to meet current and future needs.
